Burn Your Portfolio - Michael Janda
If you're looking to get into the professional art world but realize there are not many guides that talk about the industry's business side, this is a great book to get you started. Michael Janda dives into his career experience and explains all of his 110 points in a fun and easy way. The book's title might sound jarring, especially for us artists who take so much pride in the work we choose the share. But Mr. Janda is not actually telling you to burn your portfolio; he is merely sharing his thoughts on why your portfolio is not the end-all-be-all in the business world. You'll need a strong work ethic and some much-needed people skills to be a highly sought-after designer. This book is an excellent read for anyone interested in getting into the professional design space. If you are interested in this line of work or have entrepreneurial tendencies, I can't recommend this book enough.
